I am excited to take on the position of president of our organization, The Opticians Association of Illinois. Our challenge is to stand together, helping opticians to become certified. The opticians’ employed by some chains stores and private offices are now requiring their dispenser to become certified. Do not wait until you are forced to become certified, Make it Your Choice. Get your certification; continue your education and support of your state association. Certification benefits our patients and our community as a whole. Stay up to date in advancing opticianry in our state by becoming a member of the Opticians Association of Illinois. Stay in touch, email us and help us grow yours’ and our profession. Standing together in numbers, makes us strong.

WE'RE GETTING CLOSER!
The last time we had an update it was just after our Fall Conference and Spring was on its way. Now Spring is closer and our Spring Conference plans are set and just waiting for the day! We look forward to seeing all of our familiar faces and want all of you to encourage any new co-workers to join us. We will be having Ed De Gennaro, current editor of 20/20 magazine, a well known speaker on all things optical, presenting 6 hrs of ABO cec's. Diane Drake will also be joining us to round out our cec lineup, with cec's that are dual credits for both ABO and NCLEC. Diane has been with us before and brings a vast knowledge of the optical world to us with her ABO and NCLE and Masters in Ophthalmic Optics. Michael Myers will be with us to present the ABO review class. So come prepared to learn and enjoy! Our conference will be at the Hotel Arista in Naperville, Il. This is a truly unique, "totally green" hotel environment, just one of only 16 to be found in Illinois. Be sure and go to their website, www.hotelarista.com and find out how they help support a clean environment and check out all the surrounding shopping and the activities available to fill your free time in the evenings. We want to remind you that there is still time to become a member of OAI. Whether you are a renewing member or going to be joining for the first time, we look forward to receiving your membership .We have a link to our membership form right here on our website, and an e-mail link that will get any questions you may have, answered. It is all our faithful members and potential new members who make OAI a working organization. As your board we are always working towards making any conference a worthwhile investment of your time and at the same time, a fun relaxing weekend!
